About

  • Philip Tarsia graduated at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in Foreign Languages and Literatures in 1984 after spending many years in the United States and some relevant periods of study in the UK. He obtained a specialization degree in Didactics of Foreign Language Teaching from the University of Rome (1992) and a post graduate degree in The European dimension in education from the University of Florence (1995)

Career and research interest

  • He has taught on a wide range of courses including teacher training courses for the University of Trieste and has worked on short and long-time assignments for the National Agency INDIRE and the Regional School Office (USR Friuli Venezia Giulia).
  • He has extensive experience of teacher development, capacity-building, research, consultancy and European project management particularly in the field of transnational cooperation, second language acquisition and teaching of English as a medium language (CLIL). He is a member of the University of Venice Ca' Foscari team for the MIUR CLIL teacher training programme.

Current role

  • In his capacity of Assistant Principal at the Liceo Scientifico Galilei of Trieste he is currently involved with curriculum development, a cross-curricular dimension in language teaching, comparative pedagogy, international career orientation, student mobility, international qualifications in the English language and EU citizenship practices. After an initial induction at the Liceo Scientifico Statale Galileo Galilei, early in his career, he definitively joined this institution in the year 2000 and has taught English ever since.
